Joining in / A few useful answers

BEFORE YOU JOIN IN

You do not need to earn your place with a perfect step. Here is what to expect, what you can change and what this site actually does.

Do I need dance experience?

No. Begin with one comfortable gesture, take your time and use pauses freely. The prompts are creative starting points, not technique assessments. The passing hello is a useful first experiment.

Can I join in seated or with a smaller movement?

Yes. Choose a personally suitable position, range and pace. A gaze change, small gesture or rest can carry the idea. No single option suits everyone, and you never need to explain your choice to make it valid.

Do I have to use music or count beats?

No. Spoken cues, silence and an unhurried sequence are all valid. Counts are optional memory aids. Try “hello, hello, elsewhere, rest” if numbers distract from the movement.

Does this site host uploads, accounts or voting?

No. It is a static editorial resource. There are no member accounts, routine uploads, live feeds or voting tools. References to exchange and community describe the spirit of the ideas, not a hosted social platform.

Can I change the challenge?

Yes. Keep the central rule if you want the relationship to remain recognisable, and change the movement, scale, character or ending. If you borrow another creator’s identifiable sequence, acknowledge it rather than presenting it as entirely new.

Do I need a retro costume?

No. Ordinary comfortable clothes are welcome. A colour, collar or soft texture can suggest a character without a new purchase. The outfit guide starts with familiar garments and movement checks.

How should I credit music and choreography?

Name specific creators and sources when known, and check reuse conditions. Credit alone does not grant permission to publish music or another person’s work. Our sharing notes explain the distinction.

Can I film friends at a gathering?

Ask before filming and agree separately on publication. Respect a refusal and provide a way to stay out of frame. Do not assume that attending a party means agreeing to appear in a public video.

What if a movement hurts or feels unsafe?

Stop. Do not push through pain to complete a prompt. Seek qualified individual advice when needed; this site is not medical guidance. Leaving out an action or ending the activity is always an acceptable choice.

Does the contact tool send my message?

No. It prepares plain text locally for you to copy or download. To send it, use your own email application. The contact page explains each step and does not upload your draft.
